Hey folks, Art here. You don’t always need an afternoon and a spreadsheet to learn something useful about your money. Sometimes five focused minutes can tell you what deserves a closer look.
Here’s a quick check before a purchase or at the start of the week.
Start with what’s coming
Look at the bills and transfers due before your next expected income arrives. Include payments you scheduled outside your banking app. Money already committed to a bill isn’t available for something else just because it hasn’t left the account.
Scan your recent spending
Look through the past month’s activity for charges you don’t recognize, subscriptions you stopped using, or an expense that surprised you. Follow up on unfamiliar transactions with your financial institution promptly.
Give savings a purpose
If some money is set aside for a repair, an emergency, or a future home purchase, keep that purpose visible. You can track it on paper or in a tool you already use. You don’t have to open another account to start organizing.
Pick one follow-up
- Review an unused subscription.
- Check a payment date with the provider.
- Set a useful balance alert if available.
- Schedule more time to review an unexpected expense.
Five minutes won’t solve a budget shortfall. It can help you notice one sooner and decide what to address next.
If buying a home in Tucker or around Atlanta is on your list, bring what you learn into the planning conversation. Let’s talk about a housing budget that leaves room for the rest of your life.
